Natrium muriaticum

The Natrum muriaticum patient suffers from distress. Often it is a silent sorrow. Comfort worsens, he prefers to be alone. He is “built close to the water” (cries a lot, like Puls.) and the tears flow even when he laughs and coughs. Or he is unable to cry, even in times of great sadness.

A state of contradictory emotions occurs, for example laughing and crying at the same time, doing both alternately, or laughing at serious topics.

Nat-m. is afraid of robbers and also dreams about them, and the patient only goes to bed when the entire house has been ransacked.

It suits slim, cachectic people who have a lot of hunger but still lose weight, often from the top (neck, collarbones, shoulders, chest), progressively downwards. But it can also be indicated for fat people. The facial skin is oily and shiny, the hair is flaky or falls out prematurely, including the eyelashes, eyebrows and pubic hair. There is a tendency to develop herpes around the lips or the lower lip has a deep crack in the middle. The tongue is lined like a map. There are rashes on the head (on the edge of the hair) and eczema in the joints.

The Natrum muriaticum patient longs for fresh air and wants to wash himself with cold water.

There is a clear connection with this medicine to the sea, where the symptoms either get better or worse.

The general time of deterioration (weakness, hunger, etc.) is 10 a.m. in the morning. “Children learn to speak late” is an indication of its application.

The Natrum muriaticum patient has a pronounced craving for salt and fish. He cannot tolerate milk, bread and fat.

There are some neurological symptoms: numbness everywhere, especially (on one side) of the tongue. Loss of smell and taste. There is also a feeling of hair on the tongue. Squinting outwards or blindness, flickering and blurred vision due to headache (as in Gels.). The function of the bladder is disturbed and involuntary loss of urine occurs when walking, sneezing and coughing. A peculiar symptom is that the patient has difficulty urinating in the presence of others.

Nat-m. has a drying effect on all mucous membranes and causes great thirst. The female genital organs are also dry and coitus is therefore painful. Constipation may occur and stools may be hard and dry. It often consists of small balls (sheep droppings).

Nat-m's headache. are knocking or hammering. They are worse from mental and physical exertion. It helps with headaches in schoolchildren (Calc.). It is also suitable for back pain if it is relieved by pressure or lying on a hard surface.
