Sulphur lotum

The Sulfur patient is narrow and gaunt, with slumped shoulders. Sulfur is also suitable for very small people. The hair is dull and brittle, the facial skin is dirty red and does not look clean even after washing. There are scales on the head and there are mites on the forehead and nose.

Disorder and uncleanliness and a penchant for philosophical and religious enthusiasms gave him the reputation of a ragged philosopher. Indifference to one's appearance and also to pleasure of any kind or to the well-being of others.

Egocentric. Fanaticism is also part of the middle picture.

Despite the uncleanliness, there is sensitivity to bad smells; it can even go so far that the patient perceives bad smells where none exist.

The sick person enjoys things that are not beautiful (for example, he finds rags beautiful).

For children, it suits warm, hungry babies who kick the duvet away, it is impossible to keep them covered at night. It is suitable for hungry children who put everything in their mouth and swallow it, who watch everyone eat. They have a distended stomach, but are otherwise thin. The children also look dirty, but they don't mind bathing, in fact they hate it and it often makes their condition worse.

Sulfur produces burning pain, on the crown, between the shoulder blades, on the feet or soles, that the patient must cover them at night (Puls., Cham.). It also causes redness of all the body orifices (the eyes, the nostrils, the anus, etc.). The lips are bright red. The burning pain and the red orifices are caused by the sharp, sore secretions. These can also smell bad. It happens that underarm sweat smells like garlic.

Standing is the most uncomfortable posture for Sulfur patients; they are always looking for somewhere to sit.

A general aggravation, weakness, hunger or feeling of emptiness in the stomach occurs at 11 in the morning or an hour before lunch. The sick person then asks for something to eat.

Other conditions are: a lot of thirst but little hunger, or the patient is thin even though he is very hungry and also eats a lot.

There is a craving for fat, meat and sweets. Strong craving for beer or other alcoholic beverages. (Sulphur is a cure for alcoholism. It suits secret drinkers.)

Diarrhea in the morning, often at 5 o'clock, which drives the patient out of bed or he wakes up with the urge to defecate.

Patients show a pronounced tendency to develop skin rashes. The skin is dry, rough, flaky and itchy. Wool on the skin also causes itching. This itching skin is worse when the bed is warm and it burns after scratching. There is a tendency to suppurate so that every small injury to the skin festers (Hep., Sil.)

Sulfur is suitable for diseases after suppressed rashes.

It is also indicated for acute conditions that drag on for a long time or for constantly recurring complaints.
