Ipecacuanha

The most prominent symptom of Ipecacuanha is constant nausea that accompanies every possible complaint. The patient experiences a persistent, unsuccessful desire to vomit. He feels an aversion to food when it is only smelled. If vomiting occurs, he does not feel any improvement in the nausea and immediately feels the need to vomit again. There is profuse salivation, sometimes with a metallic taste. The tongue is usually clean. The complexion is bluish or there are blue rings around the eyes.

Another area of influence of Ip. are the respiratory organs. It acts on asthma (in children or related to hay fever), on cough and on whooping cough. A lot of mucus forms, but cannot be coughed up. Breathing becomes rattling and shortness of breath occurs. The characteristic nausea is present and food or mucus is vomited when coughing. Whooping cough also causes vomiting, or the force of the cough causes a nosebleed.

Ipecacuanha is also effective for bleeding. Bleeding can occur from any orifice in the body, the patient loses a lot of blood in a short period of time and feels nauseous. The blood is bright red and clots poorly.

The menses come too early, are bright red and profuse. Pregnancy bleeding with threatened abortion or bleeding after delivery were cured if the described symptoms were present.

Ipecacuanha works well on infants and children. It helps with coughs or diarrhea, during teething. It fits obese children and children who suck thumbs.
